Without a doubt, St. Maarten/St. Martin has some of the best food in the Caribbean. Both the French and Dutch sides offer epicurean experiences galore, with nearly 500 restaurants to choose from.

Basilico International

It presents itself as a restaurant featuring Italian cuisine, but with an American twist. Chef Pietro Persichino explains: “Our menu offers many authentic Italian dishes, prepared just the way my grand mother taught me back in Europe. But Italian food has evolved in the Americas and there are a few recipes which should be considered as ‘international’.”

Persichino is also proud to introduce his Sicilian colleagues Guiseppe Mazzola and Giustino Schimmenti: “These guys bring tremendous fine dining experience to the table. With such a team, I’m confident that we can please the most discriminating palate.” He pauses, ads as an afterthought: “But you got to try my lasagna… if you don’t like it, it’s free!”
Basilico is located right across the Atlantis Sports Lounge. The restaurant’s wine list presents a selection of quality Italian wines, but also international labels.

The mornings are very much catering to the American palette, with a typical American breakfast offered until 2PM. At lunchtime, gourmet sandwiches are a favorite, while dinner is know for classic French dishes, Caribbean recipes with a French twist and the daily specials.

No French restaurant deserves the label without a decent wine list, and Bon Appétit is no exception with a selection of wines from many regions of the world. The complete bar offers a wide selection of international cocktails and house drinks.
