There are some 1,000 miles of excellent beaches, many of which are white.Dominican Republic beaches are the island’s best attribute, with many of the best located in one of three major areas, which include Santo Domingo , Puerto Plaka , Punta Cana and La Romana . While the first three have been major resort areas for many decades, there are newer and newly emerging vacation spots catching the eye of sun-seekers the world over. From Cabarete and Sosua to Juan Dolio.and Las Terrenas, the island proves to be one of the best for beauty, value, and fun.
Playa Las Terrenas
Playas Las Terrenas is on the Samana Peninsula on the island’s north coast, and one of the best beaches in the Dominican for scenery. Rugged roads might be a small deterrent but from first sight of the natural beauty, with lush vegetation, crystal water, and gold-hued sand, there’s no turning back.
Playa Cabarete
Cabarete is one of the Dominican Republic beaches that has not gone mainstream yet. Windsurfing is the main appeal and with steady winds and strong waves, conditions are ideal for kitesurfing, too. Though younger crowds tend to frequent the strip, locals and tourists readily mix along the shores.
Playa Bahoruco
A secluded beach is often the thing of dreams for many and if getting to one is a vacation goal, head straight over to Playa Bahoruco. Once you’re there, you’ll find several miles of fine sand and blue water with a backdrop of scenic cliffs and plenty of untouched natural beauty. A few small beach huts offer local eats and drinks.
Playa Punta Cana
With almost 30 miles of phenomenal beachfront, Punta Cana beach is a good bet for finding a variety of excellent beaches with many different vibes. The long stretch of beach is comprised of several beaches with their own names like tiny but lovely Uvero Alto and Playa de Macao. Some of the best island resorts are also here along with a bevy of dining and shopping options.
Playa Dorada
Reef snorkeling at Playa Dorada is the biggest attraction, but certainly not the only one along the Amber Coast. Fine, light-tan sand flanks the coast where many luxury resorts are located. Swimming conditions are great and sports rentals are widely available.
Las Minitas Beach at Casa de Campo
At the famous resort of Casa de Campo is Las Minitas, a bustling beachfront area with many things to do. Unlike smaller Dominican Republic beaches, Las Minitas has it all; kayak, paddle boat, canoe rentals, windsurfing, scuba diving trips, and more.
Playa Sosua
Close to Puerto Plata, Playa Sosua is one of the biggest northern attractions and one of the best beaches in the Dominican. A bounty of white sand, aquamarine water, verdant mountains, and oscillating coconut palms paint the perfect picture of the tropics. Nearby Playa Dorada is a bonus beach to visit if staying in the area at one of the few hotel resorts. Full services, sports rentals, and beach umbrellas are available.
